My first try at Kuksa Carving

I've been meaning to give carving A Kuksa A try for ages and thanks to the inspiration and information found on Jon mac's Blog, Spoon Carving First Steps I finally got round to giving it A go. Jon lives and works on Dartmoor in Devon and presents Spoon and Kuksa carving from a Bushcraft perspective, working with basic tools namely the Axe, Knife and Hook Knife using green wood. It's A great blog with A wealth of information and A great read so if your interested in green wood carving be sure to check it out.

At any rate, my first try was carved from green Elm wood and it has A tooled finish meaning no sandpaper just A million or so micro cuts with the knife to achieve as smooth and even A finish as possible. It was most enjoyable to carve and I'm sure it is but the first of many to come.

Enjoy :-)

Big Crochet Hook

I've been neglecting this poor blog for much to long so I thought I would include this Big Crochet Hook. I've been wanting to turn and carve another one for ages and am happy to say I've finally managed to get around to it.

Enjoy :)
